Calling all print artists...5 weeks to submission deadline for Pushing Print




Those folks at the wonderful Pushing Print are at it again. Can it really be that time of year already? Blimey. How the summer goes fast when it is so short! TALKS AND WORKSHOPS PROGRAMME 2012

13th October 201211am - TALK    Zoe Murphy
Designer Zoe Murphy creates imagery inspired by her hometown of Margate and uses it to print onto restored and upcycled furniture and textiles. For this talk she will give an insight into her work and the historical references within her practice
£5 per person
12 noon - TALK  Print and Stitch on Textiles: Rosie James 
Rosie James will be talking about the use of print and stitch within her work, referencing historical designers and contemporary artists. She will also be looking at the printed papers associated with stitch, in the form of kits and using transfer papers to handstitch small motifs.
£5 per person
2 - 5pm - WORKSHOP  Polychromatic Printing: Dawn Dupree
Textile artist and author of the book  'Heat Transfer Techniques' Dawn Dupree' will lead a workshop, for adults, using dyes to paint on to screens, experimenting with various mark making tools and then printing on to paper or fabric.
£25 per person. Price includes materials. Limited to 10 students


14th October 201210am - 4pm - WORKSHOP  Ceramics and Print: Fiona Thompson
This workshop, for adults, will offer an introduction to printing on to clay, both directly and through paper transfer. Students will learn how to create colour, pattern and line with ceramic slips and inks on to the clay surface, using simple monoprint techniques.
£50 per person. Price includes materials. Limited to 10 students


21st October 2012
11am - TALK  Encountering Digital Print: Neil Bottle, Evelyn Bennett and students from UCA Rochester
Renowned Textile Designer, Neil Bottle, is Subject Leader for Fashion Textiles at the University for the Creative Arts, Rochester where he set up, in 2009, the BA Hons degree in Fashion Textiles: Print. Together with fellow lecturer Evelyn Bennett and three past students, they will talk about the possibilities and potential of digital textiles methods
£5 per person

WORKSHOP AT THE PRINTBLOCK, WHITSTABLE
10am - 2pm Silkscreen printing on to textiles
A taster workshop of screenprinting on to various textiles swatches, bags and t-towels, using paper stencils.
£30 per person. Price includes materials. Limited to 6 students
