Thanet's dog accessible beaches

As a new owner of a four legged furry friend, I was interested to know which beaches I could take the pooch to over the summer. TDC's dog guide on their website unfortunately doesn't have a map or illustration of the various bays and beaches where I can take my canine friend. They have a list of beach names, but some are so small or local that they don't come up in google maps. As a newcomer to the area, I've no idea where Fulsam Rock is and neither will other tourists.

I called TDC who offered to post me a leaflet. I declined in deference to saving on paper and time. But would be nice to have a map on the site, please, TDC. Should be simple enough.

  1. hi Peter, thanks for that. If TDC don't come up with an image I might just annotate a google map for myself.

  2. Hi Peter,

    Thanks for that! :)
I ended up at Botany Bay tonight, which was nice. Lots of kids playing volley ball. Nice to see that.

  3. Go to www.visitthanet.co.uk
    All the beaches are listed
Maybe contact the Thanet Coast Project.
Obviously things are more resticted in the summer.
    Good Luck

  4. Forgot to mention click on Beaches and Bays for a full list. Click on Blue Flag Awards for a pretty good map. There are various numbers of Beach Inspectors to call for info.

  5. Adin- thanks. However, the names of the beaches on the dog byelaw page aren't the same as those on the visitthanet site you indicated. Wouldn't be too hard for them to have beaches illustrated on their dog guide. But thanks anyway.

  7. Hey,

Did you notice the 'Dog Byelaws' page on the Thanet council website[1]? It appears to offer the info that you're after. Although, it would be pretty cool to get them popped on a map (google or otherwise).

  8. Sorry, I'd overlooked the fact that I could actually add a link to the Dog Byelaws.

  9. Chris - Hi, yes. This is the page I first linked to. it just lists the names of the beaches, with no maps. I then called TDC and they offered to send me a map of beaches in the post. I think they should just illustrate the beaches they list and also make them consistent with the list of beaches on visitthanet site.
